Challenging The Youth MUN
A Message from,
The Secretary General
It is with immense pleasure and joy that I, Krish Sanklecha, Secretary General of CTYMUN The 2nd Edition, warmly welcome today’s youth and tomorrow’s leaders to “Challenging The Youth Model United Nations, The 2nd Edition” conference on behalf of the entire team here at CTYMUN The 2nd Edition.
Our conference will adhere to the THIMUN procedure in hopes of stimulating not only fruitful debate but also to create a platform where delegates can showcase critical thinking, organization, and public speaking skills.
In the midst of a crisis, where people have been separated from dear ones, I wanted to continue to show my commitment, dedication to MUN and my passion for it along with my fellow team. Therefore, over the next several weeks my team and I will be working on ensuring that we successfully bring forth an online experience that will exceed expectations.
On the weekend of July 24th, CTYMUN The 1st Edition had successfully commenced, with a team of 5 Executive Team members and 3 Secretariat Team members. CTYMUN The 1st Edition was a stepping stone for this conference as it has helped us expand into a bigger and better team.
With that being said I would like to introduce the theme of CTYMUN The 2nd Edition “Strengthening Peace, Justice and Equality Amongst Today’s Youth”. In today’s world, it goes without saying that peace, justice and equality are required conditions for the world to positively evolve.
These three conditions and keywords call for the unification of the universal population. It’s of the utmost importance that we come together as global citizens. The word peace suggests that everyone lives in harmony however this can also be achieved through justice and equality being instilled into our daily lives.
To go along with this theme, we have introduced a new committee called United Nations Women, to focus on gender equality and women’s rights which are both imperative topics that fall under our chosen theme. We believe UNW is a great addition and will allow for fruitful debate to take place. Furthermore, we have decided to retain our committees that could be seen in CTYMUN The 1st Edition. So that being said, the committees that CTYMUN will offer are those that are thought-provoking and cater for MUN delegates and chairs with varying experience. The committees that will be offered include the General Assembly 1 (GA1), the General Assembly 3 (GA3) the World Health Organization (WHO), the Human Rights Council (HRC), the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), Security Council (SC) and lastly as discussed before The United Nations Women (UNW).
Every Executive Team member, Student Officer, and Delegates will form the foundation of the conference and become a part of something greater. Once again, I extend my warm welcome to you all and am eagerly looking forward to seeing you there.
